Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park is the neighborhood with the city's front yard attached. The park itself runs along the lake with a free zoo, a conservatory, beaches and miles of trail. Inland, it's brick row houses and grey stones on quiet streets, with Armitage, Halsted and Clark doing the shopping and dinner.

What is it like to live in Lincoln Park, Chicago?

You get two things most city neighborhoods make you choose between: a lot of green space and a lot to do. The park and lakefront are the east edge, with North Avenue Beach, the zoo, the conservatory, the Chicago History Museum and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. A few blocks west it's side streets of vintage homes, then Armitage and Halsted for shops and restaurants. DePaul University's campus sits in the middle and keeps Fullerton and Lincoln Avenue busy.

What kinds of homes are in Lincoln Park?

Brick row houses, grey stones, vintage walk-up condos, lakefront high-rises and some of the largest single-family homes in the city. Pockets like Sheffield, Mid-North, Wrightwood Neighbors and Park West each have their own housing mix and their own price range.

How do you get around?

The CTA Red, Brown and Purple lines all stop at Fullerton. The Brown and Purple lines also stop at Armitage and Diversey. Lakefront express buses run to the Loop, and the Lakefront Trail covers bikes.
